RESPONSABILITY OF NUSIENCE PROPERTIES
Anyone who owns a property is responsible for what happens on it. This is especially true of Banks, Mortgage Companies, City, Government, Commercial and Farms.

In the photo above, the red circles represent only
the active tunnels and mounds.
If you're not doing anything about the infestation on your side, then the gophers migrate to a neighboring property, and causes extensive damages, your neighbor can bring a suit against you for damages.
When a vacant property sits unattended, a single gopher can tunnel in and within 2 months, can become 216. One single gopher can move 300 tons of topsoil to the surface! Consider where this soil comes from. Gophers den underneath and alongside pools, homes, walls, waterlines, basically all items put into the soil. Those gophers can easily tunnel underneath walls, ditches, canals, homes, basements and highways.
At the first sign of gophers, immediately contact a trapper and have the service begin. Stop the population from exploding as fast as possible. Any hesitation could allow yet another generation of gophers to be born.
In Arizona, we are seeing a massive population boom of gophers within parks and greenbelts. Unfortunately, when we contact those government offices that are responsible for those parks, they deny that they even have the gophers! All they have to do is look at them, but that would mean accepting responsibility. For those property owners around those areas, they are frustrated and left shelling out the cost of repairs and for endless products that will not work. If property owners would stand together and force the cities to do the right thing and have the gophers trapped, instead of chased from one area to another, the gopher population would quickly be eliminated.

Too many do all the wrong things. They call an exterminator and have them use products that were never designed for pocket gophers. Those products were intended for mice, rats and other rodents. The gopher, will never ingest these baits, and poisons. This extremely paranoid rodent will eat only those items that it foraged itself. Anything put into the ground, is expelled into your yard, a neighbors or into a vacant area, where birds can ingest, take flight and drop dead, where dogs, cats and wildlife can eat and die. More importantly, these baits are brightly colored. If you've used these poisons, then the gopher expels in your neighbors yard, where their child finds the bait in the yard, and eats it, that child will die.
I'm hearing more and more from new customers and callers from around the country that are being "given" controlled products to use on their own by licensed pest control operators. This is illegal activity and needs to be immediately reported. It's obvious that the applicator doesn't want or know how to do it, so leaving it to the property owner to apply it, is insane and against the law. They are essentially washing their own hands of any legal responsibility if a pet or child is killed. BEWARE - there are too many of these individuals doing this.
If you have a nuisance property, here's what you need to do.
- Contact us or your local licensed professional trapper, who specifically traps, without any baits. If they do use anything to try and attract a gopher, do NOT use them. A real trapper that knows gophers, will never bait. Doing so will cause more damage and the gophers learn quickly how to detect the traps.
- Communicate with those who are abutted to the property, let them know that you intend to start trapping, ask for them to get involved. We offer discounted rates for neighbors and entire neighborhoods.
- Don't hesitate! Try and get trapping started immediately! The gestation is too short, and in 2 months, 1 gopher can become 216.
- Contact your insurance provider and ask for reimbursement. If it's not available, then ask your local government, especially if your property is next or near another vacant property. The only way to stop the population explosion, is for everyone to work together.
If you would like an inspection, especially PRIOR to a home or property purchase, please contact us BEFORE you go into Escrow. Trapping does take time when done properly. Typically, we can clear a property within one month, on a 1 acre or less property.
