Ground squirrels are one of the many carriers or Vector borne disease carriers. The fleas that live on them, easily transmit to you when you pet your dog or cat and those same fleas can also jump on you when you walk through your own property. Ground squirrels work together to build large communities or "cities". They can stretch for great distances and depths. In the ground squirrel world, there are generally 4 females to 1 male, so there is always a great need to immediately trap the females to stop the population explosion. Ground squirrels go off on their own after only 30 days. Take those and add them to the others (generally 5) from the litter and you can have too many quickly.
We've even dealt with these rodents at our own home but after the garden was destroyed, injuries while walking and even the road signs fell over, it was time to say, "Adios you little Buggers"! Trapping ground squirrels is an art. People can try to do this chore themselves but it is tedious and expensive.
